Such warm sensations......

December is here, the most merry time of the year. It is no secret to anyone who actually knows me that Christmas is my favorite time of the year. Not because of the gifts but because the colors change, the leaves fall, the smell of a fresh cut tree encapsulates my house and little beings come even more often for snuggles into our large bed. Now when I describe my bed, I must say that we have an East King. What is the difference? Well an East King is the same length as a queen but is wider than a typical king. Yes, when you have two adults and three children and sometimes a pug or a cat over the years you need a whopper.....I will not mention that the St. Bernard has figured out how to crawl onto the bed and has been found there on a few occasions now as well.
Many of you are now cringing right....oh my she sleeps with her children (oh were you picturing a large dog on the bed too?!). I am a self described lazy individual once I enter my bed so three children later I can tell you that the best thing our crib ever did was catch laundry or serve as a place to store items. At one time the cat enjoyed it immensely! Bottles at night, nope not happening. The most glorious day was when each infant stopped pooping every five minutes and their diaper could last all night so all I had to do was roll over and go back to sleep. I admit there were probably times that the onsie needed to be changed from a small wet spot and probably was not. Ah there is that warm feeling, such nice dreams of entering a warm bath, all alone....oh crap....no urine....good lord now I am awake and wet, cold, and did I smell like this before?
My youngest is now an energetic two and a half year old who flings from side to side each night and has been known to lay across my body, neck, legs, mistake her father for me and try to nurse, and has been potty trained on her own doing for quite some time. Let me emphatically state there was nothing as joyful as throwing, no smashing, the diaper pale into our trash bin when I realized our diaper days were over. I do not think I will take the same approach to our bed when no children are sleeping in it but I may put some fancy smancy pillows on it or a blanket that costs more than its worth paying for! Blankets keep you warm and fuzzy at night and I go to sleep once I am warm and covered with one foot kicked out. Nights when my little darling flings all over I get uncovered and cannot sleep. The other night this transpired a lot and right when I fell into deep sleep and was dreaming about something less than entertaining my dreams moved over to feeling of a warm rain, showering down across the right side of my body. About the time I began to critically analyze my dream I woke to the realization rain is not warm where I live AND I had been peed on....a lot. I hollered at the man who sat up and said "who is there" before he tried to roll over and go back to sleep, I started undressing the baby from her bottoms and whacked the man again to get a towel. He did this, all in his sleep, of which I admire detest I may add, carried the toddler with him in a towel while I changed my clothes and piled the wet laundry on the floor by the bed. He then began to instantly snore again. They wonder why moms never sleep. The end.
Can you find the three children?
